Team PNoy candidates dominate the top 12 senatorial slots of mid-term elections in May based on the latest survey by the Social Weather Stations, but the opposition said the result would not be credible until the polltakers disclosed the people who paid for the survey, radio reports said on Monday.
In the latest of four surveys conducted by SWS since August last year, Team PNoy re-electionist senators Loren Legarda remained on top with Alan Peter Cayetano in number two, according to radio station DZRH.
Even as the composition of the top 12 senatorial bets remained the same as in previous surveys, one of the biggest gainers was former senator Ramon Masaysay, Jr., the report said.
The radio report came out ahead of the official release of SWS survey results. The official results are published in the Business World newspaper.
In the past surveys the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) candidates who made it to the top 12 were Nancy Binay, JV Ejercito and Migz Zubiri. They retained their standings in the latest survey with Gringo Honasan squeezing in to join them in the magic 12.
Other candidates who made it into the top 12 were Cynthia Villar, Aquilino Pimentel, Antonio Trillanes, Bam Aquino, Grace Poe, and Aurora Rep. Sonny Angara.
Team PNoy candidates — Villar, Angara and Escudero — confirmed the results of the survey, but spokesman Ben Evardone declined to issue a statement until it was officially published in the Business World.
UNA spokesman Toby Tiangco questioned the results of the survey because it did not complied with requirements of the Commission on Elections to disclose the people who paid for the survey.
“Sorry, I refuse to comment on the SWS (survey result) unless they comply with Section 26a of COMELEC Resolution 9615, which states that they have to disclose those who paid for and subscribed to the survey,” Tiangco said.
